　　“跨年晚会”英语说法一：New Year's Eve Party

“eve”这个单词我们在圣诞夜(Christmas Eve)中也碰到过，它表示“day or evening before a religiousfestival or holiday”，也就是“前日，前夕”的意思。因此今天，也就是12月31日，就是“New Year's Eve”了哦。除了以上的这个意思，“eve”还可以表示“重大事件即将发生的时刻”，比如说：

Those hopes helped lift the Bombay Stock Exchange by over 20% from the election result to the eve of the budget.(从大选结果公布到预算案出台的前夜，这些希望促使孟买的股票交易额上升了20%多。)

　　“跨年晚会”英语说法二：Countdown Party

除了以上这个比较中规中矩的说法，由于一般性跨年晚会到最后都会进行新年倒计时的环节，因此我们还可以用“countdown party”来表示“跨年晚会”。
